CLACKAMAS, Ore. -- Clackamas County Sheriff's officials say business is up between 30 and 50 percent at the gun range since the first of this year.

The sudden interest has led to a shortage of guns and ammunition.

The Sheriffs department the gun range is open to the public for shooting practice. Up until a few months ago, it was easy to find an open shooting lane -- now it's almost always standing room only.

The range has trouble keeping ammo in stock. Inside area gun shops, it's the same story. There are many empty shelves.

Smaller concealed handguns sell nearly as soon as they come into stores and many of the small caliber ammunition is nearly impossible to find.

Royd Jackson, who owns three area "Gun Broker" stores says this run is unprecedented in his 21 years in business.

"We've had runs before Y2K, then the Clinton administration, but I've never seen a shortage of ammunition before. This is definitely a first," said Jackson.

Many new gun buyers say they're concerned about the economy and want to be prepared if violence erupts.

Others are concerned that the new administration might be leaning towards some kind of gun control.

There are many factors fueling this run on guns and ammo, but most agree this is the biggest run they've ever experienced.

Dealers are urging everyone to use patience.

They say guns and ammo may be in short supply, but eventually everything will arrive.

Almost into April and no let up on sales anywhere across the nation. People are really concerned, no, scared absolutely sh1tless of what the 'government' is doing.

Obama could instantly stop the ongoing frenzy with a simple 60 second teleprompter aided statement affirming his vehement defense of the constitution and the 2A, but instead we get...silence. I will continue to buy all I can afford for the possible dark ages ahead.

This week I was at the local Wally World and a large farm supply store that has a large long gun and handgun stock.

Wally World had zero handgun ammo. The farm store had a few boxes of .25 ACP and this is a place with a display case full of Glocks and Springfield XPs.

Wally World had 2 boxes of 30-06. The farm store did have quite a bit of rifle ammo, 30-06, 22-250, .223 etc.

For the last few months I've been scouring the internet trying unsuccessfully find various "standard" cartridges. By "standard", I mean things like .45 ACP, .40SW, .308. All I could find was weird calibers, and super expensive hunting rounds. Almost EVERYTHING is sold out.

However, last week, I drove over to Cabelas and they had tons of standard type rounds.

Cabelas is the place to go right now.

There are precisely zero Cabela's in the Southeast. Nice job, Cabela's. 380 ammo is on site but actually out of stock with 2 week back order.

Anyone living near Plainfiled, Illinois should check out Mega Sports if you're looking for anything. I was in there a couple weeks ago to pick up a new Walther P22 for some cheap plinking. All of their shelves seemed full. It was hard to find a bare spot anywhere. Their prices are reasonable. Even if you live 30 miles away, it might be worth the trip.

As far as I know, they don't do any online sales.

The most popular gunstore and shooting range in my region of NorCal is now rationing handgun ammo, and intends to begin rationing rifle ammo soon.

Wow, it's gotten bad enough that one of my friends that is being trained with Loomis, their ranges has also run out of ammo and cannot train the drivers for their guns.

Crazy times...

"The Illuminati also want to control the availability of food, water, weapons and ammunition to the public for exactly the same reason as they control the availability of, and public desire for, gold and silver. You must take steps immediately to own all of these items, which they are suppressing or are attempting to gain absolute control over. Otherwise, we suggest that you acquire a large, thick, comfortable pad on which you can drop to your knees to do obeisance to the Illuminati."

Went to Gun Show yesterday in St. Charles Mo. Military Gun and Knife collectors show.

Weather Raining hard
Time 10AM

CROWDED---Parking was tough
50 to 70 people in line to buy tickets at $8.00
50 to 70 people in line to get in. They would only let you in as people left as they had reached capacity.

Impressions

Cheapest ARs for around the $975--Colt were more.
there were less than 1/3 of what was available at the same show last year.

All mil looking long arms are up 20-30%.

All Steel Revolvers look to be up 20-30 % S&W 686+ used $675

Plastic Pistols up 10%-15%

Home Defense Shot Guns up around $360-550

Ammunition ----low quality--nothing special selling at higher than retail last year----much less of it.

After Show went to a Re-loader Supply place near by. They were completely out of small pistol primers, Varget Powder, IMR 4064 Powder.
Out of 168 sierra MatchKing 175 Smk 168 Berger 168 Speer 165 in all.
Out of all .308 bullets in bags--cheaper range stuff.
Outtages extended to cases for 308s and some others.

12 person line at checkout counter. Got to make some new friends and meet some old ones--it was like a watering hole.
